Honestly I am used to it, at least for all intents and purposes. I was attempting to be light-hearted with my bit about ppl calling him Nagito, but it maybe didn’t come across. oh well. my “danganronpa fandom” consists of me and my, like, 5 other friends who have all been into it for like a decade, so it definitely continues to be slightly jarring (and makes me feel old lol) to see people call him by his first name even if it’s the majority by now. But I still know which character is being referred to no matter what he’s called and I don’t wanna belittle anyone for their preference. I just got into v3 last year and I’m sure there’s people out there who read a fan translation and think it’s weird that I call them by their first names. but a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet, right?

The translation came out in 2015, a year after the game was released, so unless they got into Danganronpa like a decade ago, most fans call him by his first name

I’ve been a danganronpa fan since 2012, immediately after sdr2 was released in Japan and a full 2 years before the official translation came out in 2014 (not sure where you got 2015). not everyone has a PS vita, so many fans didn’t get to play the official English until the PC port was released in 2016. so for 4 years, I and everyone else were calling him Komaeda because that’s what the fan translations we read on the SA forums called him. and many people still played the game in Japanese with English subtitles where you can hear the characters calling him Komaeda. also not that it matters but he was my favorite character when I played the game and for a long time I found the memes irritating and dismissive

my tags on anything ever are pretty much always intended as jokes especially if it’s anything regarding what other people call certain things, whether it’s regional dialects or personal preference or whatever, I simply don’t have it in me to react to that sort of thing any more strongly than “huh”
it was a joke that didn’t carry through text, no I do not care if people call characters by their first or last name. as long as I know which character they’re talking about I’ll engage them in good faith and not get annoyed or correct them. what a dumb thing to get annoyed about tbh
